  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup self-raising flour
  • 1 tablespoon margarine
  • 1 egg
  • 2-3 tablespoons of milk


  • 1/2 cup of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of butter
  • 1 tablespoon of golden syrup
  • 1 – 1/2 cup/s of boiling water

  • wooden spoon
  • dessert spoons
  • greased pie dish
  • hot stove


1. Sift the flour and salt. Rub butter/margarine into flour, add boiling water and mix
until there is a soft dough.

Place ingredients for syrup (1-1/2 cups boiling water, 1/2 cup sugar, 1 tablespoon butter 1 tablespoon golden syrup) in the saucepan, stir with wooden spoon until sugar is dissolved place into saucepan and boil.

3. Place dessert spoons of dough into a greased pie dish. Pour syrup over dumplings
and bake.

Turn them over after about 1/4 hour, so the dumplings are covered in the syrup. Cook them for ( 180 degrees ) 1 hour/1/2 hour.
