How To Make German Apple Cakes

This German Apple Cake is a moist dense cake that keeps well. It has been a family favorite for twenty years.

  • 3 cups plain flour-450g?
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder -12g?
  • 1 teaspoon salt?
  • 4 eggs?
  • 2 cups sugar?
  • 1 cup vegetable oil ( or grape seed oil)?
  • 1/2 cup orange juice?
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract?
  • 5 cups peeled and finely cubed apple?
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon ?
  • 4 tablespoons sugar


1. Preheat oven to 180℃♨

2. Sift together the flour, baking powder and salt into medium sized bowl and set

3. In a large bowl, beat eggs and sugar. In a separate bowl? combine the oil and
orange juice?

4. Add the oil and the orange juice mix with the eggs and sugar-then add the flour
mixture. Beat until smooth; add vanilla and beat well.?

5. Grease and flour your muffin or cake pans and set them onto a baking tray so its
easier to transfer them to and from the oven♨

6. Combine the cinnamon and the sugar?

1. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon and sugar mixture in the cake pans. Top with about 1 1/2 tablespoons of chopped apples ?

2. Then add about 2 tablespoons of cake batter. Repeat once.♻

3. Bake at 180℃ for about 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.?

4. Cool for a few minutes in the pans, and then tip over onto cooling rack to finish cooling.♨

5. These can be eaten warm as a dessert with a scoop of ice cream or a dollop of cream or they can be cooled completely to serve as a cake.
