Some Lesser Known Facts About Alida Kurras
- While pursuing her high school education, Alida Kurras played Judo. She played the sport for eight years and decided to enrol in a sports boarding school; however, later due to a hip injury, she had to drop out of the sport.
- After completing her schooling, she began pursuing a law degree at the Freie Universität Berlin in Berlin, Germany; however, after a few semesters of studying there, she dropped out of college to appear on television.
- In 2000, she appeared in the second season of the German version of the reality TV show Big Brother. She was titled as the winner of the second season of the show.
- In 2001, she appeared on the cover of the German edition of the men’s magazine Playboy. She also had a photo series in the magazine; however, after a few years, she revealed in an interview that she regretted the production and publication of the photos a few years later.
- In September 2003, she appeared as the host of the world’s longest television quiz on 9Live Together. She hosted the quiz along with various German celebrities including actor Robin Bade, TV personality Anna Heesch, Physicist Jörg Draeger, and TV show host Thomas Schürmann.
- The quiz went on for 52 hours and 45 minutes without a break and all the hosts took turns to host the show. The show was registered as the world’s longest-running television quiz in the Guinness Book of Records.
- In 2004, she began hosting a German pseudo-documentary talk show Das Geständnis – Heute sage ich alles! on ProSieben. She hosted the show until 2006.
- In 2007, Alida hosted a documentary soap on RTL II along with presenter Jürgen Milski titled The Fate of My Life. The series received very low ratings due to which the show was cancelled; however, the show was brought back again under the new name This is Life, again without success in September 2007.
