Some Lesser Known Facts About Ashu Jain

• Ashu Jain grew up in Delhi.

• She worked as a polytechnic teacher for one year after completing her B.Tech. at Jamia Millia Islamia in New Delhi.

• After marriage, she decided to become a homemaker to take care of her children and father, who was diagnosed with cancer. However, she later regretted not being able to pursue further studies.

• While exploring options for her eldest daughter’s bachelor’s program, Ashu’s children encouraged her to resume her studies. With their support, she decided to enrol in an M.Tech. program.

• Ashu later decided to prepare for the M.Tech. entrance exam at Jamia Millia Islamia but struggled to find time. However, in December 2010, she met with an accident and broke her leg, which required three months of bed rest. She used this time to focus on her exam preparation.

• At 44, Ashu was admitted to the M.Tech. program in Nanotechnology at Jamia Millia Islamia. She was so passionate and dedicated to her studies that she ranked 2nd.

• She later pursued PhD at IIT Delhi, and after completing it, she moved to Dehradun with her family.

• In her early 50s, Ashu faced post-menopause issues, including weight gain. Following her doctor’s advice, she changed her lifestyle and began her fitness journey at 54. She started with walks and Zumba before joining a gym and lost many kilograms.

• Ashu often takes part in marathons. In February 2025, she ran 10 kilometres in the Doon Half Marathon, organised by the Aldaa Foundation. She secured second place in her age group and ninth overall.

• Ashu once expressed her interest in working from home and asked her daughter for a role as a social media manager in her startup. However, her daughter declined as Ashu did not have that many followers on social media.

• Ashu later started working on improving her presence on Instagram. She began posting vlogs on her account, ‘Not Just A Grandma,’ which focused on topics like having a strong mindset and staying fit.

• Over time, as Ashu built a stronger presence on social media, she joined her daughter’s startup.

• In 2025, she appeared as a contestant on the reality show ‘MTV Roadies Season 20: Double Cross,’ which aired on MTV India and streamed on JioCinema.

• Ashu first auditioned for Roadies 20: Double Cross in Delhi but did not make it to the personal interview round. However, she auditioned again in Hyderabad and this time, she got selected.

• It was her fitness coach, Lakhvinder Singh, who encouraged her to try her luck in Roadies.

• Ashu is an avid traveller and frequently shares her travel experiences on social media.

• She loves animals and has a pet dog named Bicky, whom she adopted on 16 June 2018.
