Some Lesser Known Facts About Bharat Sharma Vyas

• Bharat Sharma did his schooling in various cities like Jabalpur, Nuhpura, and Bukharon.

• He developed an interest in singing while he was in 4th class and used to sing songs in various school programs.

• He first got a chance to sing while watching a religious program in his village. In the program, he sang the song “Mera Naam Hai Chameli, Main Hu Malan Albeli.” The singers there praised his singing.

• Gradually, he started developing an interest in singing. He then took 70 rupees from his mother and shifted to Kolkata in 1972 while studying in the 9th class to practice singing.

• After reaching Kolkata, he started living at Raj Kishor Tiwari’s house in Siwan district. One day during Ramayan Paath, a singer from his village asked him to sing Ramayan Paath.

• At the beginning of his singing career, Bharat Sharma used to tie a harmonium on his cycle and go from village to village and sing Bhakti songs.

• He considers the Bhojpuri singer Jagdish Singh his guru.

• At the age of 16, Bharat started working at ‘Hindustan Motors’ in Kolkata. After working in Hindustan Motors for 3 years, he returned to his village. He then got married. After staying at home for one year, he joined a sangeet party in 1976. From 1971 to 1987, Bharat recited the Ramayan through sangeet.

• Bharat Sharma Vyas started his career through folk songs and bhajans.

• In 1971, he recorded his singing for the first time in a village program for which he received 1000 rupees.

• He got recognition mainly for the Bhojpuri Nirgun ‘Bidha’ song. In 1989, his first Bhojpuri album ‘Daag Kahan Se Padi’ and ‘Gawanwa Kahe Le Aila’ were released in R-Series studio.

• He has recorded more than 40 Nirgun cassettes.

• In 1989, he recorded three songs ‘Raja Piya Jani Gaanja,’ ‘Ram Na Bigdi Hey Jekar,’, and ‘Aile Dusre Jnm Mahan’ in Three Horse studio. After the release of these three songs, he gained immense popularity.

• Bharat Sharma has sung songs in more than ten Bhojpuri films.

• In 2011, Bharat Sharma’s Bhakti song “Dhowat Dhowat Tohri Mandirwa” was released on the T-Series regional YouTube channel.

• On 26 November 2021, he was appointed as a co-incharge of Bihar and Jharkhand by the All India Cine Workers Association.

• He met Amitabh Bachchan for the first time on the sets of the TV show Kaun Banega Crorepati.

• He has been appointed as the brand ambassador of the Buxar district by the election commission.

• In August 2018, he met a man named Chandan Rai at his friend’s shop. The person introduced himself as a media employee and had relations with many big people. During the conversation, Bharath Sharma told Chandan that he wanted to buy an Innova car. Chandan duped him of Rs 5.35 lakhs in the name of getting him an Innova car. After waiting for many months, when he did not get the car and the money was also not returned, he complained to the Kotwali Sector-20 police. The accused had given him two cheques which bounced. After this, the police started investigating the case.
