• David Dorbik was born to a Slovak father and a Hungarian mother. He was raised in a middle-class household.

• David Dobrik and his family immigrated to Vernon Hills, Illinois in Chicago when David was just 6 years old.

• As David was just a child when he entered the United States, he was protected under the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. The program allowed undocumented minors to live and work in the county.

• After a few years of being protected under DACA, David was finally granted permanent residency within the United States.
