Some Lesser Known Facts About DJ Aqeel

• As per DJ Aqeel, his childhood career wish was to become a pilot which changed to music when he was introduced to mixing music at 16.

• He started his musical career as a disc jockey for private parties in Mumbai during the mid-1990s.

• His first major accomplishment in his career was playing music at the JW Marriott’s club Enigma Pub in Mumbai.

• In 2001, he released the popular remix music video Nahin Nahin featuring actors Keith Sequeira and Ayesha Takia.

• Some of the other music videos were Tu Tu Hai Wahi (2002), Ek Aankh Maroon (2002), Disco Station (2003) and Disco 82 (2004).

• He opened nightclubs Poison in 2005 and Bling in 2008 with business partner Dilip Joshi in Mumbai.

• He started a DJ School named Future DJ Academy in Mumbai in 2009.

• He opened the Hype nightclubs in Atria Mall, Mumbai (2010), Hotel Shangri-La, Delhi (2010), and Ludhiana (2014).

• After he closed Hype Club in Delhi in early 2013, he opened another nightclub, RSVP, with Farah Kahan Ali in 2013.

• Some of the films he worked on were the song Fanaa for You from the film Fanaa (2006) and Desi Magic (2021).

• He acted in the film TFTNW (2022) and also in a couple of music videos such as DJ Aqeel: Arey Diwano… Don (2003) and Kya Dekhte Ho (2012).

• He tours worldwide for his music programs.

• In 2021, he released a cinematic Electronic Dance Music (EDM) set featuring theme songs from Marvel, Game of Thrones, and Rocky. It was shot at the Taj Mahal amidst the COVID lockdown.

• He is a dog lover. He often posts pictures of his pets (Shih Tzu breed) Elvis, Presley, and Magic on his social media accounts.
