- As per DJ Aqeel, his childhood career wish was to become a pilot which changed to music when he was introduced to mixing music at 16.
- He started his musical career as a disc jockey for private parties in Mumbai during the mid-1990s.
- His first major accomplishment in his career was playing music at the JW Marriott’s club Enigma Pub in Mumbai.
- In 2001, he released the popular remix music video Nahin Nahin featuring actors Keith Sequeira and Ayesha Takia.
- Some of the other music videos were Tu Tu Hai Wahi (2002), Ek Aankh Maroon (2002), Disco Station (2003) and Disco 82 (2004).
- He opened nightclubs Poison in 2005 and Bling in 2008 with business partner Dilip Joshi in Mumbai.
