  • He belonged to the Yadav community and supported Lalu Yadav and the RJD. He was also close to Nitish Kumar and worked in Barh, which was once Nitish’s Lok Sabha seat.

  • People in his area knew him as a loyal but short-tempered man who spoke directly. Old records say that in 1991, during a by-election in Barh, Dular Chand was with Nitish Kumar and Dilip Singh when a firing happened at a polling booth.
  • One person died in that firing, and an FIR was filed that included Dular Chand’s name. This incident started his image as a local strongman.

  • On 30 October 2025, during election campaigning in the Mokama Tal area, Dular Chand’s convoy met Anant Singh’s convoy on a narrow road in Tartar village.
  • Both sides started arguing, and soon the situation turned violent. In the fight, Dular Chand was hit by a vehicle and allegedly shot. He died on the spot.

  • Police and administration reached the area quickly. Heavy security was placed in Mokama. The next day, Dular Chand’s body was taken for a post-mortem.
  • The report said that he had severe chest injuries, broken ribs, and a ruptured lung, which caused his death due to cardiorespiratory failure.
  • His family refused to perform his last rites until the killers were caught. A murder case was filed at Ghoswari Police Station after a complaint by his grandson, Ravi Ranjan.
  • The FIR named Anant Singh and four others. The police suspended two SHOs for negligence in duty. Later, Anant Singh and his two aides, Manikant Thakur and Ranjeet Ram, were arrested on the night of 1 November 2025.
  • A Patna court sent them to 14-day judicial custody. Police said a total of 80 people had been arrested so far in this case.
  • After the murder, political reactions came quickly. RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said violence had no place in democracy.
  • Pappu Yadav visited the family and blamed the government for poor law and order. Anant Singh continued to say that he was innocent and that his rivals had framed him.
