  • Towkir Islam Sagar studied at Rajshahi Government Laboratory School up to Grade 7 before enrolling at Pabna Cadet College.
  • He passed HSC in 2016 and joined the Bangladesh Air Force later that year, beginning his pilot training.
  • During his cadet training, he completed over 100 flight hours on PT‑6 aircraft and later gained roughly 60 hours with Squadron 15.
  • He served in Squadron 35 with the 76 BAFA course and underwent advanced fighter pilot training.
  • He married approximately one year before the crash. His wife, Aksa Hossain Nizhim, is a lecturer at BRAC University in Dhaka.
  • His family is originally from Kansat in Chapainawabganj but lived in Rajshahi’s Upashahar area in a rented home named “Ashroy” for about 25 years.
  • Towkir’s father, Tohurul Islam, works in the import‑export business and has been based in Rajshahi for two and a half decades.
  • On 21 July 2025 at about 1:06 PM local time, his FT‑7 BGI training aircraft took off from Kurmitola Air Force Base in Dhaka.
  • Shortly after takeoff, the aircraft suffered a mechanical failure, became unresponsive, and prevented control recovery or safe ejection.
  • He attempted to steer the jet away from densely populated areas towards a sparsely inhabited zone in Diabari, Uttara.
  • Despite his efforts, the jet crashed into a building at Milestone School and College, triggering an explosion, fire, and casualties.
