• Golden Tate played multiple sports during his school years, including track and field, football, and baseball.

• In 2006, the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) and the Tennessee Football Coaches Association chose him for the Tennessee Division II all-state football teams based on his score (1,413 yards, 23 touchdowns on 140 carries, caught 28 passes for 510 yards, 6 scores) in his senior year of high school.

• He was on his school’s relay team, which won the state title. He was also among the top athletes in the state in the 100- and 200-meter dashes.

• In 2007, he was drafted by the professional baseball team Arizona Diamondbacks through the Major League Basketball draft but he did not sign it.

• He continued playing baseball for his college team at the University of Notre Dame and got drafted by the professional baseball team San Francisco Giants in his sophomore year in 2010 which was not signed by him.

• He was the wide receiver in his university’s football team Notre Dame Fighting Irish Football and in 2010, he was selected to the professional football team Seattle Seahawks.

• In 2013, the NFL (National Football League) fined him US$7875 for excessive taunting, but his overall performance earned him the NFC (National Football Conference) special teams player of the week award.

• In 2014, he and the Seattle Seahawks won the Super Bowl against the team Denver Broncos.

• After the end of the 2013 season, he joined the Detroit Lions and in 2015, he attended his first Pro Bowl games (an annual event featuring star players).

• In 2015, he appeared as himself in episode 8 of the television sitcom, The League.

• In 2016, his school honoured him with a jersey retirement ceremony (an event to celebrate his achievements).

• In 2016, he started a non-profit organisation  Golden Future Foundation (GFF) focusing on various issues. He also established a scholarship fund for the athletes of Pope John Paul (PJP) II.

• After playing for the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants, he played for the Tennessee Titans until 2022.

• In June 2022, he joined the professional baseball team Port Angel Lefties. He was the first former NFL player to play in the West Coast League.
