Some Lesser Known Facts About Jack Carter
Jack Carter was born four days before his parents’ first wedding anniversary in 1947.
He grew up in Plains, Georgia.
Jack started working at his father’s peanut farm warehouse during winter when he was young. He used to get just 10 cents for an hour initially.
When Carter started college in 1965, he had a tough time.
In April 1968, Jack joined the United States Navy, encouraged by his father. He served on the USS Grapple (ARS-7) during the Vietnam War.
In late 1970, Jack Carter was given a general discharge after he was caught smoking marijuana with his 53 classmates at the Naval Reactors Facility (NRF) in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
After serving in the military, Carter graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Later, he started studying at the University of Georgia School of Law.
In 1981, Jack moved from Georgia to Chicago, USA, and worked at the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT). He later began working at Citibank. He moved to Nevada in 2002.
In 1985, Carter was interviewed for historian David Wallechinsky’s book about the Class of 1965. The book, later titled ‘Class Reunion ’65,’ shared stories from 28 graduates and showed how the Vietnam War changed their lives.
