Some Lesser Known Facts About Kanan Kaushal
- Kanan Kaushal liked acting since childhood and participated in cultural festivals at school and college.
- She started her acting career as a theatre artist in Hindi-language plays. Her performance in the play Do Jahaan Ke Beech (1964) with actors Sanjeev Kumar and Leela Chitnis, received wide appreciation.
- The first two Hindi films she acted in, Prahar and Asha Ke Deep, were incomplete and remain unreleased.
- While making the Hindi film Akhri Din Pehli Raat its director Kamal Amrohi changed her name from Indumati Paigankar to Kanan Kaushal. The film was later shelved but she kept the screen name.
- She played significant roles in the Hindi film Pardesi (1970) as Savitri and in Gujarati films, Ghunghat (1970) and Gunsundari No Ghar Sansar (1972).
- She was popular for her pious or religious roles. She is best known for the role of Satyavati Vyas in the film Jai Santoshi Maa (1975).
- Some of the other notable roles she played in Hindi films were as Rani Roopmati in Balak Aur Janwar (1975) and Rajkumari Champa in the Hindi film Naag Champa (1976).
- Her performance in the Marathi film Pahuni (1976) also was highly appreciated by the audience.
- Her first film in a lead role was in Maan Apmaan (1979) as Parvati (Paro). The making of this film started in 1968 but for several reasons, it was released 11 years later.
