  • She wanted to become a dancer all her life. She used to go to a local dancing school and did ballet, tap, modern dance, acrobatics, singing, and drama.
  • Before her TV career, Michaela Strachan started working in theatre and had a brief pop career with her song titled ‘Take Good Care of My Heart’ which reached number 66 on the UK Singles Chart in 1990.
  • After completing her course at the performing arts school in London in 1985, she appeared in the theatre musical ‘Seven Brides for Seven Brothers’ which was held at the Grand Theatre in Blackpool, Lancashire, England.
  • She was a regular presenter on Saturday morning television shows in the 1980s.
  • In 1986, Michaela Strachan started working as a co-presenter of the English children’s TV series titled ‘Wide Awake Club’ which was telecast on the TV-am channel.

  • She has been a vegetarian since the age of 18 and has her own organic vegetable garden, carbon offsetting through tree planting, and investment in solar panels for green energy.
  • A year before she moved to London to study musical theatre, Michaela Strachan’s father lost his job and the entire family fell into a financial crisis.

    The main one was eczema, which I started to get on my arms, my ear lobes and, most agonisingly, on the insides of my eyelids. The irritation was so intense that I couldn’t help rubbing my eyes. “

  • Eczema caused her to rub her eyes intensely which further resulted in warped eye pupils and she developed another condition called ‘Keratoconus’ which is a disorder of the eye that results in progressive thinning of the cornea. The eye condition made her wear very hard contact lenses to protect her eyes.
  • Michaela was told by the doctors that if she continues to rub her eyes intensely out of irritation, she could loose her eyesight permanently.
  • After Eczema and Keratoconus, Michaela Strachan developed patches of the autoimmune disease ‘Alopecia’ above both her ears about the size of two-pence coins.
  • She underwent a homoeopathic allergy test which resulted in her being allergic to dairy, potatoes, and formalin which is a chemical found in everything from paint to car fumes to cleaning products.
  • After a friend’s advice, Michaela Strachan consulted a Chinese doctor and after testing Michaela’s blood, it was found out that all her allergies resulted from her blood being at the wrong temperature.
  • She started taking Chinese medicines and all her allergies and diseases started to get cured.
  • In 2005, while shooting the first day for the English TV series titled ‘Elephant Diaries,’ Michaela found out that she started sneezing, her eyes started bulging, and she began developing a rash.
  • After consulting a doctor, she found out that she has an allergic reaction to elephants and she was quoted saying in an interview that

    I’m allergic to elephants. Contact with them makes my eyes swell, I get rashes and start sneezing. At least when we’re filming an emotional scene, I look like I’m on the verge of tears already.”

  • In 2014, shortly after taking part in the diving show ‘Splash!,’ Michaela Strachan discovered she had breast cancer during a routine mammogram. Surgeons advised her to have a double mastectomy since there was a risk of lobular cancer spreading from one breast to the other.
  • She underwent reconstructive surgery and worked as an ambassador for the United Kingdom-based charity ‘Breakthrough Breast Cancer.’
  • She loves to spend time with animals and she often shares photos and videos with her pet dog on social media.
