• Milana Nagaraj started swimming when she was five years old. She then became a state-level backstroke swimmer.

• When she was pursuing her 12th grade, she met with an accident when an SUV hit her two-wheeler and she fell off. She stopped swimming after the accident. Reportedly, her leg bone was badly broken and needed a rod and screws to fix it.

• After finishing her computer science engineering, Milana Nagaraj did not want a full-time office job. A friend advised her to participate in the Miss Karnataka contest.

• With a good athletic body from years of swimming and training, she entered the Femina Miss Karnataka beauty pageant. She did not win the final round of the contest but was awarded Miss Best Personality in a sub-contest.

• During her modelling days, Milana Nagaraj started receiving offers from Kannada films.
