• Accused of Stealing $150 Million from Business
In 2016, Pankaj Oswal was accused of misappropriating 150 million dollars from his Australian fertiliser business for personal benefits like acquiring a mansion, luxury cars, and his wife’s vegetarian restaurant chain. He and his wife fought the legal battle against the Australia and New Zealand Banking Group (ANZ) for allegedly undervaluing shares of their fertiliser company to recoup millions in debts. • Family Feud over Inheritance
Pankaj’s father Abhey Oswal passed away in 2016 and left his enormous empire without a will due to which Pankaj Oswal and his mother Aruna Oswal got into a feud related to who will inherit the Oswal Empire. Pankaj claimed that he had a right in his father’s companies and other assets. Pankaj even claimed succession to his father’s properties on the grounds that his family made him wear ‘pagri’ as per tradition at Abhey Oswal’s prayer ceremony which means he was the legal heir to his father ever since. However, after three days of the prayer ceremony, an FIR was filed against Pankaj and his wife alleging theft of official documents.
