On 27 July 2025, Pune Police’s Crime Branch conducted a raid around 3:30 am at a studio apartment in the upscale Kharadi area, following a tip-off about a rave party. During the operation, officers seized narcotic substances and other items worth Rs 41.34 lakh, including 100 grams of marijuana, 2.07 grams of cocaine, 10 mobile phones, two four-wheelers, hookah pots, and beer bottles. Following the raid, seven individuals, Pranjal Khewalkar, Nikhil Poptani, Sameer Sayyad, Sachin Bhombe, Shreepad Yadav, Isha Singh, and Prachi Sharma were arrested and produced before a local court, which remanded them to police custody till 29 July 2025. On 28 July 2025, Rohini Khadse, NCP-SP leader and wife of Pranjal Khewalkar, issued a statement via social media, saying she had full faith in the law and that the truth would come out in time. Her father, former Maharashtra minister Eknath Khadse, also commented, stating that he would not support his son-in-law if found guilty but would not spare anyone if the charges were false. He urged the Pune Police to conduct the investigation with complete transparency. Meanwhile, Khewalkar’s lawyer, Vijay Thombre, argued in court that his client was being falsely implicated and had been previously stalked by police, calling the arrest politically motivated.
