Some Lesser Known Facts About Sameer Saxena
- On 1 July 1989 he was commissioned into the Indian Navy from the Indian Naval Academy as a specialist in navigation and direction.
- He served in navigation and direction teams on the aircraft carrier INS Viraat. He was navigation officer of the corvette INS Kuthar, the frigate INS Godavari and the destroyer INS Delhi.
- He commanded the Mauritian Coast Guard ship MCGS Guardian, the corvette INS Kulish and the destroyer INS Mysore.
- In March 2016, he was appointed as Naval Adviser to the High Commissioner of India to the UK (High Commission, London).
- In February 2020, he was promoted to flag rank (Rear Admiral) and was posted as Assistant Chief of Naval Staff at the Naval Headquarters.
- On 27 December 2021, he took over command of the Western Fleet as Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet.
- On 15 November 2022, he relinquished the command of Western Fleet and on 29 November 2022, he took over as Flag Officer Commanding Gujarat Naval Area (FOGNA).
- On 1 August 2023, he got promoted to Vice Admiral and was appointed Chief of Staff, Eastern Naval Command (ENC).
- On 31 October 2025, he assumed charge as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command (SNC).
