- Swaroopa Ghosh started acting in theatre productions at the age of seventeen. Her artist father sparked her interest in theatre.
- After her marriage at age 27, she moved to Delhi from Kolkata, where she worked for the National School of Drama Repertory Company, New Delhi, for a long period.
- While working at the National School of Drama Repertory Company, she met the Saudi-Indian theatre director, Ebrahim Alkazi, also referred to as the father of Modern Indian Theatre. She joined Alkazi’s Living Theatre, where she remained until her pregnancy.
- After the birth of her daughter, she joined the Theatre and Television Associates, a theatre group owned by Ebrahim Alkazi’s daughter, Amal Allana and her granddaughter Zuleikha Chaudhury.
- After her film debut in 2012, she acted in Madras Cafe (2013) as a Foreign Secretary, Piku (2015) as Moni Kaki, Pink (2016) as Uma Di, and Love Hostel (2022) as MLA Kamala Dilawar.
