Some Lesser Known Facts About Vijayta Pandit
- She belongs to a musical family from the Pili Mandori Village in Hissar, Haryana.
- She made her debut in the film industry when she was only 14 years old.
- She was found by the actor and filmmaker, Rajendra Kumar after he noticed her accompanying her sister, Sulakshana Pandit at the trial of her film, ‘Garam Khoon’ (1980).
- In an interview, Vijayta recalled that Rajendra Kumar visited her home to sign her up for his debut film, ‘Love Story’ (1981) as a producer and despite her parents rejecting the offer, she eagerly accepted it and said,
He came home and told my sister that he wanted to sign me as heroine in his debut film as a producer. My sister told him that I was just in 8th standard and that she will have to ask my parents. My parents told my sister that I should complete my studies first, but I told my parents that I wanted to act and promised to pursue my studies side by side.
- Although she was selected as a lead in the film, she refused to screen test which worried Rajendra Kumar.
- Later, Rajendra Kumar took fellow actor and filmmaker, Raj Kapoor‘s advice and had Vijayta take a 3 month crash course in acting from director Roshan Taneja before the filming began.
- During the shooting of the film, she fell in love with her fellow actor, Kumar Gaurav, and entered into a relationship with him.
- In an interview, she claimed that after the success of her film, the couple became a fan favourite but Rajendra Kumar, father of Kumar Gaurav, refused to come to terms with their relationship and tried to sabotage it.

- In 2017, she sent a legal notice to producer Moti Sagar, son of filmmaker Ramanand Sagar for duping her for Rs. 1.65 crore. In response, Moti Sagar denied the allegations and stated that Vijayta owed him Rs 2.28 crore and would file a case for its recovery.
