In 2018, Yung Miami was highly criticised for her tweet which she had posted back in 2013 on her Twitter account. In the tweet, she had written that she does not want a gay son and would punish him for it. She wrote,
“I do not want one of my sons to be gay and would beat him if i find out that he was gay.”
Later, she posted a formal apology on her Instagram account for her remarks; however, even after she apologised, she was again criticised when she tried to give an explanation for her remarks during her appearance on Power 105.1’s radio show The Breakfast Club. In the show, she tried to explain that she was supportive of the LGBTQ community and did not have any hatred towards them but what she said in 2013 was about her son and did not mean to offend anyone. She said,
“I was just talking about my son. I just said that if I saw anything gay in my son, that I would beat him. But that’s just like when your mama be like, ‘If you break my table I’m gonna beat the shit out of you.’ That don’t mean she’s gonna beat the shit out of you, she’s just saying it.”
After her appearance on the show, netizens said that she was homophobic and the comments she made on The Breakfast Club were hateful and anti-LGBTQ.
• Allegations of working as a sex worker
In March 2024, Rodney “Lil Rod” Jones claimed during an investigation of the case against Diddy that Miami worked as prostitute for Diddy and also said that she supplied Pink Cocaine to the rapper. Later, during a podcast, Yung Miami denied all the allegations against her and said that she could never sell drugs as it had previously destroyed her family.
