Meatloaf is a dish of ground meat mixed with other ingredients, formed into a loaf shape, then baked or smoked. The loaf shape is formed by either cooking it in a loaf pan, or forming it by hand on a flat baking pan. Meatloaf is usually made from ground beef, although lamb, pork, veal, venison, poultry and seafood are also used.

- 1 1/2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup shredded Italian cheese blend
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup fresh flat-leaf parsley, chopped (optional)
- 1 1/2 cups saltines (about 4 ounces), finely ground
- 1/2 cup barbeque sauce (optional)
- 1/3 cup water
Step 1: First of all, heat oven to 400° F.
Step 2: Then combine the beef, soup mix, cheese, eggs, parsley (if using), and saltines in a large bowl.
Step 3: Add the water and combine.
Step 4: Transfer the meat mixture to a baking dish and form it into a 9-inch loaf.
Step 5: Bake until cooked through, about 40 minutes.
Step 6: Remove the meat loaf from oven after 25 minutes if using barbecue sauce and pour the sauce over the top.
Step 7: Return to oven for about 15 minutes more.
